ANNOUNCING, VSA Michigan (VSAMI) seeks an executive director

to bring more awareness and financial resources to the organization to better serve its constituents through existing programs and services and new initiatives.  VSA Michigan is a statewide organization that promotes creative power in people with disabilities, and works to create an inclusive society where they may participate in, learn through, excel in and enjoy the arts.  The job will be part-time – 25-30 hours per week, salary based on demonstrated experience, until such time as funding is available to make the position full-time.  Visit the VSAMI website at www.vsami.org for detailed information about VSAMI programs, services and current activities.
Applicant must meet the following criteria for employment:

  • Have had experience in nonprofit or for profit administration
  • Exhibit a passion for the VSA Michigan mission and an interest and ability to further the programs and services of the organization
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the disability experience and understanding of the life enhancing needs of children, youth and adults with disabilities
  • Have a history of successful corporate and individual fundraising and government and foundation grant writing
  • Possess good communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Have had credible experience in managing funds, bookkeeping and accounting

Applicant must also:

  • Be able to collaborate with VSAMI Board members and volunteers, and other administration staff, and supervise staff
  • Be able to work well with artists, and have interest in and knowledge of the role of the arts in education
  • Be willing to share ideas and concerns

The following computer skills are needed for this position:

  • Microsoft Word /Excel
  • QuickBooks Pro
  • Page Maker or some other graphic software
